The U-Haul is all loaded with over 100 new paintings, with my yellow director's chairs and my new rolling table with my new hydrangea tablecloth, and my purse is full of sunscreen, bubblegum and chocolate. I can't imagine anything more I need to have a successful art show in the garden during Dallas Arboretum Artscape except for one super important ingredient - YOU! You are invited to join me for my only outdoor show of the year this weekend in Booth 43, April 26-27, with a member preview Friday evening from 6 to 8 pm. I've doubled the size of my tent for 2014, so you'll get to see twice as many flower paintings. You could even move some living room furniture in there and sit down with a bowl of popcorn or take a nap under awning number two. The possibilities are endless!

I'm always excited to visit the Arboretum, after all, it's the incredible staff in the Adult Education Department who first convinced me to start teaching flower painting over 4 years ago. Little did I know, I was about to embark on the most enjoyable chapter in my life, my work as a flower painting instructor. Wear your comfy shoes and bring your camera and join me in the gardens, I'll be the lady in the pink apron with just a dab of green paint on her nose....

Dulce de Leche Sunflower was my one hour demonstration yesterday evening for the Irving Arts Association. I had such a fun time visiting with artists from across North Texas in attendance, and gave away a limited edition hydrangea print as a prize. Today I'm finishing up preparation for my biggest art show of the year coming up this weekend, Dallas Arboretum Artscape. I hope to see you there!

Sunflowers and Japanese Iris was one of six demonstrations from my Texas Hill Country workshop last week. We painted iris, hydrangeas, sunflowers, and pink lilies, while bluebonnets bloomed outside our window. I love the slow pace of Fredericksburg, Texas, even though I'm teaching all day I still have time to stop and take a deep breath and enjoy the quiet pace of a small town when I'm there. At night you can see the stars, during the day you can always find parking, the bluebonnets are in bloom, and every morning we had the best fresh fruit and cheese kolaches - what more could one wish for in a destination workshop? I've shared pictures from my trip with you on my art blog today!

No sooner had I returned home to the hubby and the puggies here in Flower Mound and unpacked than it was time to finish preparations for Dallas Arboretum Artscape, my biggest art show of the year. You are invited! I hope to see you there in the pecan grove - I'll have dozens and dozens of new paintings on display - here's the scoop:

My iris garden produced yellow, white, purple and pale blue flowers this morning. This sudden proliferation of profuse color has me just a bit worried that it will be a short bloom season. Rather than see this as the glass half empty garden, I'm going to believe this will be the best iris season ever in the gardens of Flower Mound Studio!

Blue Iris Lily Garden is based on those blooms, and one of over 100 new paintings I'll have on display at Dallas Arboretum Artscape April 26-27. I can't believe it's almost here, holy cow I have to make some tags and labels and decide what color apron to wear that day. So much to do, so many flowers to paint, so little time! Here's a bit more on Artscape, I sure hope to see you there!

I've been drawn to peach and pink combinations lately so expressed a bit of that in a poppy painting tonight. This is a warmup for a big triptych poppy I'm creating especially for my show at Artscape at the Dallas Arboretum. I hope to see you there! Eighty or so artists and I will be out in the gardens in tents and this is my only outdoor event. If you look closely, you'll notice the lady in Booth 43 has green paint on her nose....

I stopped by the Arboretum yesterday morning to pick up my painting, Ribbons in the Sky Tulips, from the Garden Gallery Juried Show and got some colorful tulip photos - there's one on my art blog today to tickle your fancy!

I can never visit the Dallas Arboretum without filling up the memory on my IPhone with photos. Yesterday I dropped off my white tulip painting for their Garden Gallery juried show *sound of trumpets!* and took a quick walk through the garden while I was there. Every year the imagination of the flower architects there just amaze me - check out the photos I've shared on my art blog today, in particular the giant topiary peacock! There were a pair of these birds, facing one another, and they are as tall as a 2-story building.

Midnight Garden Hydrangeas was completed around...midnight yesterday in the studio, a small study to warm up my brushes for a new three foot container garden of hydrangeas in progress. I'm preparing a new series of large gallery wrap container gardens in preparation for my one and only annual outdoor show at Dallas Arboretum. Artscape will be held April 26-27, with a member preview the evening of April 25.

You are invited to join me and almost 75 other artists under the cherry blossom trees. This will be a fun show in the most beautiful gardens in North Texas staged at a time when the azaleas, tulips, daffodils, and every flower you can imagine will be blooming simultaneously.
