Winning at the Woodlands Art League (WAL) Spring Show!

I won third place and first place honorable mention in the Professional Photographer division at the Woodlands Art League (WAL) Spring Show.

This qualifies another image for the regional LSAG show in June!

 An image taken in Galveston.
Different location than the previous images and definitely a different feel.
This shoot was challenging with the rough waters
throwing up a lot of bubbles.
My oh so helpful camera was busy trying
to focus on the bubbles and not
the abstract image!

I love the subtle hues in this particular image.
Even with the subtle colors, there still seems to be
a blazing, fiery quality to the image, particularly at the bottom!

 An image taken with my "new" camera yesterday in Galveston.
Although the wind was making it a challenge to get good reflections, 
the sun and breeze made for a nice morning on the shoreline.
So far it looks like the new camera will fit the bill!

A new image from a set I took early this summer.
My teaching has kept me in Houston, but I am finished with my class and am ready to take a trip to Galveston to use my "new" camera for some reflections in the next couple of weekends! 
We'll see if it lives up to my expectations to get more in focus images. :)

This one brought a number of comments at the reception last month. I will let you guess what they were all saying about the photo once they learned about where it was shot!
There was an Art Walk in the Miami art district last night, so here's hoping to some interest from the crowds.

This photograph was selected for International Collective 2013 at the TVAA Downtown Gallery, Dallas, TX and was exhibited this spring.
It was also a semi-finalist in a iphone case competition with http://www.uncommongoods.com.
I made a canvas print of this one and is hanging on my wall in my office.

Another one of the pieces being shown at the Art Fusion Galleries in July for their "Colorful Liaisons" group show. 
One of my real favorites for the colors and the unusual diagonal points of color. Even though the color shapes are pretty dramatic, it still feels calming to me. Several people at the Gallery reception commented on how my work is calming. It didn't hurt my work was opposite an abstract artists whose pallet ran heavily into bright colors!

Another one of the pieces being shown at the Art Fusion Galleries in July for their "Colorful Liaisons" group show. 
THE original photograph that started me on my journey of fine art photography and the Slipped Boats Collection! I am very fond of this photograph and what it has meant for me during my work with the Slipped Boats. This photograph has been a winner in two Juried competitions and shown in two gallery exhibits of show winners.
 I head out this afternoon for the Gallery reception Saturday evening. Both my in-laws and my folks will be meeting me there to share in the experience. Hopefully some friends in the tri-county region will make their way down, as well. The husband will be staying home, unfortunately, to nurse a bad back. Looking forward to sharing a few pics of the night!

Another one of the pieces being shown at the Art Fusion Galleries in July for their "Colorful Liaisons" group show. 
I heard from the Gallery owner that my work is up on the walls and priced. He decided to give me a bigger space since he loved my work so much. He said the review sized images I sent for selecting the works to include in the show didn't do the works justice. And he called my work "museum quality" which certainly gave me a thrill! Count down of 2 weeks until we go to the reception and I see my works live!!

I shoot at several locations on the coast and each location generally has a particular flavor. The images with the black backgrounds come from a location that is covered, so that the light has a more shadowed quality. Still loads of colors to be found there!

This is one of the surreal images set I found one visit to the docks. There is all kinds of funky happening in this picture. The bonus was a real feather floating on the surface of the water that became part of the photo!
