Texas Hill Country artist Juli Koroly

I have been silent but very busy! The month of May was a
dream come true!  I had three shows , one demonstration on encaustic,
and two programs on my Native Americans portraits.  One of the shows is still in place . It is at High’s  Cafe in Comfort Texas. This is a fantastic place, great food, super  ambiance . Stop by and let me know how you liked it.
Because several pieces were sold , I delivered three new paintings this morning.  This one is titled “ I love Ewe”. You can’t drive far in Texas without coming upon a scene made pastoral by a sheep herd. It is one of my favorite views..

Chief Lone Wolf acrylic sketch by Texas Hill Contry Artist Juli Koroly

This sketch of Chief Lone Wolf was done  as the third in a series I am doing of the most well known and influential American Indian Chiefs. I have spend years  in my life  studying  and being fascinated by the culture of these first American.  I believe that the genesis of this passion was begun when as a child I heard the family story  of how  my Grandfather had met Chief Sitting Bull. My grandfather was a surveyor in the west and it was during his time there that he met the Chief. I have tried to find evidence of their meeting but have never been able. The truth is I did believe it as a child and it sparked an interest that is still strong today.

Texas Roadside

$150.00

The rains this spring and summer in Texas produced the most incredible array of wild flowers. Driving in the Hill Country was a feast for the eyes and a balm for the soul.
The wax gives this painting both a tactile as well as visual effect.

Encaustic Painting "Flyby" by Texas Hill Country Artist Juli Koroly

This butterfly made an appearance on one of my plants last year and I quickly sketched it. I did  this 6x8 encaustic from from my sketch.  I enjoyed the subject because it was a challenge to capture the character in this media.

In 1976 Lenard Cohen wrote the song "Birds on a Wire" The image of birds on a wire is a universal one. As a child when I saw a bird on a telephone wire while traveling with my parents, I was told they were "mugwumps". A bird with it's" mug "on one side and it's "wump" on the other. My brother and I earned a nickel for each one we pointed out.
