This was my second painting done in Plein Air. Painted on location at the Grove Plantation on Edisto Island, SC. I added a few things once I got home to San Antonio. A very different type of painting for me, it really pushed me out of my comfort zone.

Through the Gate Bougainvillea Path - Plein Air and Flower Paintings by Nancy Medina
Through the Gate
Bougainvillea Garden
by Nancy Medina
SOLD
16X12
Oil on Archival Panel
We ended our Florida workshop last week with a plein air outing in a beautiful garden in Tamarac on Monday. What a treat to paint under swaying palm trees with cool breezes and sunshine. The owner of this back yard haven stopped by my flower painting class with his chocolate Lab and invited us to paint on Friday, he had heard we were scouting locations in his neighborhood and he was an artist, too! Visit my art blog to see pictures of our big day in the Florida sun!

Plein Air on the Paluxy - TINA BOHLMAN
Paluxy River Bed - 8 x 10 Oil - Plein Air
Recent rain in North Texas filled dry river beds giving plein air painters fresh new subject matter. On a recent trip to Glen Rose with the Outdoor Painters Society, I painted on the banks of the Paluxy River that flows through downtown Glen Rose. I was attracted to the warm ochre color of the rushing water and contrasting cool blue reflections in the pools. A very fun day of painting! To see more of my plein air work please visit my website: www.tinabohlman.com For more information about this painting and others, please email tina@tinabohlman.com

Feeling of the Moment by Pamela Blaies
Garden Path Plein Air
8" x 10"
oil on panel
North Texas Magazine is doing an article on PAINT (Professional Artists in North Texas) a group of 9 artists I am honored to be a part of. The magazine did a photo shoot of us all plein air painting at the beautiful Ft. Worth Botanical Gardens. Outdoor painting is exhilarating to me because it requires me to focus on the essentials of the feeling of the moment and not the details.

Summer Plein Air Trip by Pamela Blaies
Wildflowers en Plein Air
5" x 5"
oil on panel
A group of artist friends and I planned a little painting weekend to coincide with a reception for our exhibit last month in Graham, Texas. I am a little late getting this one photographed and posted. Beautiful wildflowers where everywhere on the trip out there and back. To get this vantage point, I couldn't set up very far from the highway. I like to be a little more "tucked away" while painting. But it was fun anyway and a nice lady from town stopped by to visit and check out my work. It was great to see her later at the reception.

Poolside Plein Air by Pamela Blaies
4" x 4"
oil on linen panel
I don't do much plein air, but this afternoon was so gorgeous I couldn't resist painting poolside. It was warm with a light breeze - just enough to keep away the bugs! These cheery begonias were in a little shady spot with just a bit of light filtering in.
