Abalone Shell by Kristine Kainer

Oil on Gallery Wrapped Canvas
20 x 20 x 1.325
Purchase Information

One of the most mesmerizing of shells is the abalone. As a child, I had a large one (purchased in a beach gift shop during a family vacation in Nagshead, North Carolina). I kept my favorite pieces of jewelry in it for years. Sadly, it disappeared some time after I graduated from college (any ideas, Mom?) and I’ve always regretted not having one to paint. (If you are familiar with my work, I ADORE painting sea shells.) Recently, however, I acquired a “new” abalone shell. Look out, world—this is my first abalone painting, but it won’t be my last!

Blue Hearts Cottage - Flower Painting Classes and Workshops by Nancy Medina Art

Blue Hearts Cottage
by Nancy Medina
14X14
Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas

Blue Hearts Cottage is the newest daily painting in Flower Mound Studio, a little scene from Coronado Island, California. I took the liberty of adding two tiny carved hearts under the window, the Valentine's Day holiday lasts quite a while here, it seems. Just inside the entryway on the little carved table in the foyer you'll find a box of Godiva chocolates. I saved one of the truffles especially for you...if you hurry it might still be there!

Coronado Island Cottage Rose Arbor
by Nancy Medina
16X20
Oil on Archival Panel

We painted cottages in class today in North Texas, using my plethora of images from Coronado Island in Southern California as our reference material. Besides the amazing bougainvillea, my favorite flowers on this island that has an all year round growing season are the roses, foxglove, and delphinium. I love walking downtown and seeing the locals on their colorful bicycles eating on patios with their pups nearby. What on earth would it be like to be lucky enough to be an island dweller! Ah well, one can dream...

Summer Rain Pink Roses by Texas Flower Artist Nancy Medina

 Summer Rain Pink Roses

12X12
Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas

Summer Rain Pink Roses is the newest daily painting in Flower Mound Studio, as I pack up paint and brushes for a demonstration for the Trinity Arts Guild in Bedford, Texas this week for their final meeting before summer break. This is a weekend for graduations and celebrations, and I admit I'm a bit excited knowing this will be my first summer as a full-time artist and art teacher. I'll have some exciting announcements in my art newsletter this week with workshops coming up in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and San Diego, California, so stay tuned for all the flower news fit to print!
