All That Glitters, Is Not Gold..Pastel..Texas Artist..Rae Andrews

This is only my second effort trying this pastel pencil on cold press watercolor paper. It certainly keeps me interested, so maybe I will do more. I began with a bold watercolor start, then when dry, I worked my pastel pencils and some hard pastels over the top.

I saw a great demonstration by Jeannette Cuevas....http://www.jeannettecuevas.com/#home
 (who is the 'QUEEN' of this technique), a few weeks ago. 
Although my work leaves a LOT to be compared to Jeannette's lovely work, I am 'sort of' happy with this one.



This is a 14" x 20" pastel over watercolor.

Colorful pink, yellow and turquoise  abstract art on wrapped canvas with 2 in sides.   24 x24  I reworked this piece just a little to break up some of the shapes. The bird image happened without me realizing that it was in the painting till I turned the painting around

Earth Patterns 2...Watercolor and Acrylic.. Texas Artist..Rae Andrews

        This image is another small abstract done in LIQUID ACRYLICS  and WATERCOLOR.

I hope you are enjoying these excursions from my regular posts, I am having a great deal of fun with them.

Color and design are my pet passions as many of you already know. 

I seem to bounce from more realistic imagery to the abstractions. Right now I am in the latter mode.

This one began much the same way as the previous post. No notion of where I was going with it, just allowing myself the creativity of the layering process.

I decided to go with a more 'EARTHY' image, kind of rocky, kind of not.. this time.

This one is 6" x 10" unframed.
