Sometimes, a painting looks a certain way in my head, then ends up totally different on canvas. Here is a perfect example. I initially planned on making this a very detailed painting, but decided to have fun and use a palette knife. I usually paint very detailed, realistic paintings in acrylics, but with oils, I like to use a lot of paint and texture. I love using a palette knife. I'm still looking for a name for this one.

Blue Crab by Kristine Kainer

This gorgeous creature was caught off the waters of Galveston.  We were fortunate enough to be on the docks soon after the catch arrived.  We selected half a bushel, headed to our rented beach cottage, and--with plenty of Old Bay-- had a mouthwatering meal that evening.
