 An image taken with my "new" camera yesterday in Galveston.

Although the wind was making it a challenge to get good reflections, 

the sun and breeze made for a nice morning on the shoreline.

So far it looks like the new camera will fit the bill!

A new image from a set I took early this summer.

My teaching has kept me in Houston, but I am finished with my class and am ready to take a trip to Galveston to use my "new" camera for some reflections in the next couple of weekends! 

We'll see if it lives up to my expectations to get more in focus images. :)

One of my real favorites for the colors and the unusual diagonal points of color. Even though the color shapes are pretty dramatic, it still feels calming to me. Several people at the Gallery reception commented on how my work is calming. It didn't hurt my work was opposite an abstract artists whose pallet ran heavily into bright colors!

Pictures from the Art Fusion Galleries show.

It was wonderful to be at the reception and be able to talk with people

 who stopped by to see my work. 

I don't think I talked to any real "buyers" but it was still fun to share my art!

Music, food, wonderful artwork on 2 floors of the gallery, and a bit too much rain.

I met an abstract painter from TX who does beautiful work. Two Texans in one show... in Miami!!

It was great having both sets of parents there to see my work in the gallery.

Here's to more gallery exhibits in the future!!

Another one of the pieces being shown at the Art Fusion Galleries in July for their "Colorful Liaisons" group show. 

THE original photograph that started me on my journey of fine art photography and the Slipped Boats Collection! I am very fond of this photograph and what it has meant for me during my work with the Slipped Boats. This photograph has been a winner in two Juried competitions and shown in two gallery exhibits of show winners.
 I head out this afternoon for the Gallery reception Saturday evening. Both my in-laws and my folks will be meeting me there to share in the experience. Hopefully some friends in the tri-county region will make their way down, as well. The husband will be staying home, unfortunately, to nurse a bad back. Looking forward to sharing a few pics of the night!

I heard from the Gallery owner that my work is up on the walls and priced. He decided to give me a bigger space since he loved my work so much. He said the review sized images I sent for selecting the works to include in the show didn't do the works justice. And he called my work "museum quality" which certainly gave me a thrill! Count down of 2 weeks until we go to the reception and I see my works live!!

I shoot at several locations on the coast and each location generally has a particular flavor. The images with the black backgrounds come from a location that is covered, so that the light has a more shadowed quality. Still loads of colors to be found there!

This is one of the surreal images set I found one visit to the docks. There is all kinds of funky happening in this picture. The bonus was a real feather floating on the surface of the water that became part of the photo!

I love the soft, dreamy nature of this photograph. The unusual yellow and brown tones caught my eye as well as frequently blues are the predominant color I find in the reflections.

This is one of the series of surreal images I found one day at the docks. It always surprises and inspires me how different the images can be from the same location on different days depending on the weather conditions and what boats and materials are to be found. A wonderfully "groundless" experience.
I am enjoying getting a "exhibiting artist" discount at the local hotel during our stay in Miami for the show.

I am looking forward to seeing all my old friends and colleagues from when we lived in Florida. I hope they can all come and share in the exhibit with me.

My husband has been buying me jewelry from some local ladies that make handmade jewelry - very nice work. One of the jewelers saw this picture in Randy's office and was fascinated by the image. She said if it was a stone she would snatch it up right away to make a new piece. I am still trying to work out a trade - a print for a earring and necklace set!
