Quince, New Contemporary Landscape Painting by Sheri Jones

Quince
24x24 oil on canvas

I created this after painting in the Ft Worth Botanical Gardens. Quince is usually one of the first bushes to bloom in this part of Texas. Quince's color was a joy to see with all the grays and winter's blues.
I loved revisiting this colorful garden bloom as I painted this in the studio.

Mr. Powell's Place, New Contemporary Landscape Painting by Sheri Jones

Mr. Powell's Place
11x14 oil on canvas

When painting on location, we don't always plan where we are going, but end up with what interest us. This was the second painting I did on the day I met Linda Miller. While we were painting in this location, the owner of the property came out to see what we were doing.  He was a former painter so he was thrilled to see us. We were painting on Powell Cemetery road and named after his family. They settle in the area in the early 1800's.

Rainy Blues, New Contemporary Landscape Painting by Sheri Jones

Rainy Blues
11x14 oil on canvas panel

I created this in the studio but was inspired from a painting trip to Marble Falls, Texas.  It was raining, but I was determined to paint on location.  I just stayed close to my CRV and painted under the hatch.  It  reminded me of what a delight morning it was, painting in the rail. This is available for purchase.

Wild Apricot in Bloom, New Contemporary Landscape Painting by Sheri Jones

Wild Apricot in Bloom
12x9 oil on canvas

I found this wild apricot tree when painting a landscape on location. This was my second one of the day and  a delight to paint.  I had to park the easel close to the road, but fortunately there wasn't much traffic. Plein painting can be a dangerous sport.
This is available for purchase.
