Elias, 3x3 acrylic on canvas, commission, by Melissa A. Torres

I have painted many pet portraits this size, but this is my first human! It was a challenge I was willing to accept and am very happy with the results. It was a commissioned as a gift by one of my collectors. I hope the recipient loves it as much as I do.

"Garden Variety," 9x12 oil on linen canvas by Melissa A. Torres

I braved muggy weather, stinky fly traps, and mosquitos to paint these, but at least it’s nice to see that my flowers are attracting bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds.  I love painting outdoors, even with all of it's obstacles. A lot of SPF, bug spray, and citronella a was used in the making of this painting.

"Zinnia and Indian Blankets," 9x12 oil on linen canvas

The rain has done wonders for my garden lately! These were grown from seed. I have never had much luck with seeds and wanted to capture these forever on canvas.

"Old Soul," by Melissa A. Torres, 11x14 oil on canvas

The Gift of the Tree~ Lenore Hetrick

Trees offer to those who love them a message of peace and rest.
They bring the glow of the setting sun as it vanishes in the west.
They tell of the years that swiftly pass, with little mark or scar.
They tell of evenings that know naught but calm of evening star.
Trees offer to those who love them infinite wisdom and grace.
Underneath their boughs tree lovers see eternity's face.
This tree stands in Fredericksburg, TX at Fort Martin Scott. If you'd like to read about it, here is the link. Good Texas history. https://fbgtx.org/416/Ft-Martin-Scott

The Salt Ponds, by Melissa A. Torres, 6x6 oil on canvas

I have a dear friend, and collector of my art, that lives in Virginia. We have never met in person, I only know him via Facebook, but I feel like I have known him most of my life. He is a Veteran and a graduate of West Point. He is a wonderful poet and photographer. He posts wonderful pictures of the view from his home. I painted one of them, with his permission, of course.

"Aransas Bay View," by Melissa A. Torres, 8x10 oil on panel

I spent a few days in Rockport, TX, enjoying the beautiful views provided by Aransas Bay. The weather was not too cooperative on some days, and on this day, it was changing quickly. It was difficult not to change the painting with it.  I did a quick painting from our hotel balcony. This was practice in not including every detail I see. It was done loosely with a palette knife. I really enjoy painting this way, although it is difficult for me as well as I am usually very detailed.

"Aransas Bay Piers," by Melissa A. Torres, 5x7 oil on panel

I spent a few days in Rockport, TX, enjoying the beautiful views provided by Aransas Bay. The weather was not too cooperative on some days, but this day it was beautifully sunny. I did a quick painting from our hotel balcony. This was practice in not including every detail I see. It was done loosely with a palette knife. I really enjoy painting this way, although it is difficult for me as well as I am usually very detailed.
