Day of the Dead, or Dia de Los Muertos in Spanish,  is a Mexican holiday which  focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died, and help support their spiritual journey. It begins on October 31 and ends on November 2.

Altars  are built which contain the favorite foods and beverages, as well as photos and memorabilia, of the departed.  You will see there are several festivals where the holiday is celebrated.
