Oil on Arches Oil Paper

If you've ordered anything from Dick Blick lately, you've probably received a pad of their free Arches cold pressed oil paper. I decided to give the surface a try the other night, and was pleasantly surprised! The paper reacted well to the flow of my oils without a feeling of the brush tips dragging on a rough surface. I didn't have to prime or prepare the paper in any way. It's been about four days since I painted Paper Doll Poppies, and the color has not faded or been absorbed by the paper. Now I just have to figure out what to do with it next! Glue it to something? Hmmmm...

  1. This is a lovely piece! I have framed oil on paper under glass using a thick mat to keep the surface from touching. I am going to try using gel gloss to adhere piece to a wood or composite panel one of these days to see how that works. Let me know what you come up with.
