The whole time I've done acrylics I've struggled with mid tones. They get too dark, and this is because acrylics dry darker. When I'm painting, if I keep thinking the mantra, "lighter brighter" it works better for me. I think the original looks much better, but then a painting has an unmistakable presence to it that a reproduction does not have.
