Independence Day 2015, by Melissa A. Torres, 3x3 acrylic on canvas

In honor of our Nation's Independence, I painted these two small canvas using acrylics and gel medium for textures. Both were painted with a palette knife with the exception of the flag in the Flag and Eagle painting.  Both can be displayed using a small easel that I provide with the purchase of each painting.

 Happy Fourth of July!

Untitled, by Melissa A. Torres, 11x14 acrylic on canvas

This is a painting of my boyfriend David after he retired from the Air Force in 2008.   In the original photo, the flag is hanging from his apt building.  I decided to just have the flag as the back ground.

Star Car
12x9 oil on canvas

I painted this dreaming of celebrating the 4th of July holiday. Independence, freedom and living in this great county are things I am grateful for. I hope you have a wonderful holiday celebrating your freedom with family and friends.
Happy Holiday.

Memorial Day

While trying to get another class together, I decided we would do something in honor of Memorial Day since it is coming up. These are all sketches from my flag album. Every time I go somewhere, I take photos of flags. All but one is done with the Tombow and Elegant Writer and Ink.
The top left photo was from somewhere in NM,
The top right, 'Ruidoso', is drawn with ink and painted. The middle 'Thank You' is from a photo in Hobbs, NM. and it says it all.  A friend and I went to a Memorial Day Parade, many years ago, and that was the  home-made sign in the barber shop window.
The bottom left 'Freedom of Religion' is a church from somewhere, and the last ' Home Sweet Home'  is a house from somewhere.  I don't always remember where they came from.
I am so thankful for all of our veterans.
