Temple Bottle with Grapes and Fig by Darla McDowell

9x12 Inches on Linen Panel

Usually, my Sundays are spent cooking and puttering around the house, but this week, I finished all of my chores on Saturday. So, this morning was spent blissfully painting in my pajamas. I'm thankful for an understanding husband that doesn't mind my craziness. Life is pretty sweet.

My favorite part of this painting is the pureness of the early morning light. It is a bit bigger than normal and measures 9x12 inches. It's available through my Daily Paintworks Gallery.

I hope your weekend is relaxing and full of your favorite adventures. Happy painting!

Cezanne Returned by Contemporary Texas Artist Sally Fraser

                                     CEZANNE RETURNED  by Sally Fraser

Oil still life done in an impressionistic style. The apples, oranges and rich colors

reminded me of Cezanne . I once went to a Cezanne Art Exhibit in Houston, Texas some 20 years ago (visited this exhibit eight times) and couldn't get enough of the richness and brilliance of his work!   So I began doing copies of his work. This was painted during a Don Sahle workshop just recently and I found myself going full circle. Loved his use of applying heavy paint and painting fast. Of course , this is not close to Cezanne's amazing work but the aura is there.

Price for this 24 x 30 canvas is $550.

Split Mallet Jar with Garlic by Texas Artist Darla McDowell

I had such fun painting this morning.  My little office/study truly is my “happy” place.  Now, I am off to winterize our yard.  It is a gorgeous day, and I want to get out and enjoy the sunshine.

Happy Saturday!

The past few months, I have been posting a few process shots (see below) of my paintings on Instagram. It is fun to get feedback from the creative community there, and it is even more fun to see all of the wonderful artwork that is posted.  If you are using Instagram, I would love to follow you.  And if you would like to follow my posts, my ID is d_mcdowell.

I hope you have a great weekend!
