Where the Buffalo Roam
30 x  40  inches Oil on Canvas.
Available Paintings by Laurie Pace

This could have been painful...but it was definitely paint-ful.

This piece was a special painting for someone in Colorado that is a huge supporter, alumnae of University of Colorado at Boulder...and they wanted buffalo.  The first paint was aimed at several landscape photos shared with me and the idea of wanting a sunrise in the painting.  Even after the discussion of painted pulls go up and down and landscapes go sideways, I proceeded joyfully with lush colors and thick paint.

As you can see from the slideshow... the painting changed to the more contemporary pull painting of my horses but this screw up was mine... those buffalo look like the UT longhorns... gotta head in again and scrap.
If you look really close in the slide of the last scrap you see the words "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."

After a long conversation with the definite choice of the colors in an older painting from 2006 era of buffalo with browns and golds... the canvas was scraped a second time and this third painting started.

In life we are constantly growing from the layers of experiences we have. This slideshow shows you how it works in the studio. The base of the canvas was painted and then the bible verses were painted on... and then the paint began... and went on and on for weeks. But each time the foundation of those verses remain a stable in the composition.

The old painting was this one below, era 2006 -2007.

I trust in the foundation of the Lord in my life. He continues to see me through the good and the bad times and the times that I am so scared I know I can only turn to Him for comfort.

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:8-9 KJV
